Following the dismissal of traffic citations for careless driving and a seatbelt violation, Tyreek Hill wasted no time to clap back at his critics when the story originally broke.
Hill went on X and reposted the news on Tuesday afternoon. He wrote, “Where all the internet cops now?” addressing the critics who attacked him online when he was initially detained. According to reports, the legal victory stems from a missed court appearance by Miami-Dade police officers.
Hill’s legal team, which includes attorneys Jeffrey Neiman, Devon Jacobs, Julius Collins, and Stephen Kelly, issued a statement expressing their confidence in the result. They also reaffirmed a belief that police officers shouldn’t dish out citations without following through the process of appearing in court.

“As anticipated, the traffic citations against Tyreek Hill were dismissed. Police officers should not issue citations unless they are willing to testify in court, under oath, with respect to same,” read the statement obtained by ABC News. “Officer Torres and Batista’s absence from court today evidences their knowledge of wrongdoing.”
“These officers should be disciplined for their failure to appear. Mr. Hill was entitled to have his day in court and the officers failed to appear,” they continued. “It is our belief that Officer Torres and Officer Batista failed to appear in court so that they could not be questioned under oath.”
Despite the dismissal of the traffic citations, public opinion remains divided over his conduct during the incident. “It’s good it was dismissed, but you should still be compliant next time, Ty,” one fan commented. “Your actions weren’t justified no matter how this turned out.” Another chimed in, “Yeah, this doesn’t mean you didn’t do anything wrong,” a third criticized Hill’s response as drawing unnecessary attention, writing, “They knew you’d make a spectacle out of it.”

Hill’s detainment was said to be a routine moving violation as he entered the stadium. Things escalated when he declined to lower his window at the officer’s request in the body cam footage that was released online. Critics blamed the officers for using overblown force after throwing Hill to the ground. Others defended their actions as standard procedure for non-compliance.
Hill made light of the incident with a handcuffed touchdown celebration just hours after the incident. After the 20-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hill admitted regret over his decision not to roll down the window and acknowledged that his actions may have contributed to the situation’s escalation.
“I will say I could have been better. I could have let down my window in that instance. But the thing about me is, I don’t want attention. I don’t want to be – cameras out, phones on you, in that moment. At the end of the day, I’m human, I’ve got to follow rules, I’ve got to do what everyone else would do. Now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently.”
