While a stray pregnant pup was running the streets of Oklahoma, she dreamed of escaping her sad reality and finding her happy ending.
She wished to raise her kids in a loving home where they wouldn’t have to beg for morsels of food.
When the soon-to-be mother was finally rescued and taken to a shelter, she thought that she was one step closer to reaching her dream.
Unfortunately, the two-year-old canine was admitted to an overcrowded shelter, and her number was placed on their euthanasia list.
The pup sat on the floor of her shelter kennel, feeling defeated and disillusioned.
Will anyone find compassion in their hearts and help her when she most needs it?
Saved In The Nick Of Time
The pregnant pup, later named Mama Baskin Robbin, always dreamed of a better future, but now she has started feeling hopeless.
The doggo wished she could escape the shelter walls and run for her freedom.
Sara, an experienced foster, came across a Facebook post about Mama Baskin Robbins, who was scheduled to be put down. It was a last-minute plea for help.
The doggo’s euthanasia was set for 9 a.m., and Sara knew she had no time to waste.
The kind-hearted woman joined forces with Pawsitive Tails, a dog rescue located in Kansas City.
The good humans reached out to the shelter and asked about Mama Baskin Robbin at 8:30 a.m., only half an hour before the dreaded procedure.
The worried rescuers hoped that it wasn’t too late for Mama Baskins Robbin.
Fortunately, the shelter got the rescue’s request just in time and promised to take care of the canine until they could collect her.
Mama Baskin Robbin Is Safe
A kind volunteer drove five and a half hours one way in order to pick up Mama Baskin Robbin.
As the doggo sat in the back seat of the volunteer’s car, she still had a sorrowful expression on her face as she looked through the window. The pup wasn’t aware that she was safe.
The transporter brought the doggo to Sara’s home.
She welcomed the soon-to-be mother with open arms, giving her a lot of love and encouragement.
Sara prepared a whelping box for Mama Baskin Robbin and her babies, which would soon enter the world. The canine felt relieved and she slept soundly.
Since she fostered many pregnant pups for more than ten years, Sara was well-prepared to help the future mother.
Welcoming Her Babies Into The World
Three days later, the doggo gave birth to eleven little babies after an eighteen-hour labor. The sweet furbabies were named after different Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavors.
Mama Baskin Robbin was an excellent mother. She cared for her babies and licked their sweet faces.
Surrounded with love, the puppies started thriving.
One night, the mother dog scared her foster mom when she started having tremors.
Sara rushed her to the vet immediately, and they ran the necessary tests. It turned out that the mama dog was a bit anemic, which wasn’t surprising because the doggo’s labor lasted a long time.
Mama Baskin Robbin started opening up and warming up to Sara. She began smiling. The lovely canine finally realized that she was safe.
She enjoyed cuddling with her children and showering them with love.
Sara continues to take care of the adorable mama and her furballs. When the pups are ten to twelve weeks old, they will be ready for adoption.
I have no doubt that Mama Baskin Robbin and her babies will find loving families who will cherish and love them immensely.
