The Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Sunday Night Football matchup finished nearly 15 hours after the first game of the day kicked off.

The Cowboys‘ visit to Pittsburgh was delayed due to inclement weather, with the original kick-off time scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET. However, the game got underway around 9:45 p.m. ET due to severe thunderstorms and lightning in the area.

The game ended after 1 a.m. ET as Dak Prescott and the Cowboys pushed the Steelers to a 3-2 record, while the win for Dallas put them in the positive column with the same wins to losses as their rivals. The game finished in the early hours of Monday morning, around 14 hours and 30 minutes after the first game of the NFL on Sunday.

The Minnesota Vikings and the New York Jets enjoyed a close affair at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, with the game kicking off at 9:30 a.m. ET. There’s still one game of the Week 5 schedule, with the New Orleans Saints taking on the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Monday Night Football.

Dallas quarterback Prescott threw a go-ahead touchdown in the final seconds to get the Cowboys’ season back on track following a mixed start to 2024. Jalen Tolbert caught Prescott’s pass with just 20 seconds left of the fourth quarter.

It was Prescott’s 23rd game-winning drive of his NFL career. “We practice that a lot,” he admitted. “I’d say as much as, if not probably more than any team in the league, so we’re all very comfortable in that situation with the plays being called.

“And then getting it down there pretty quick, and then having some opportunities to strike in the end zone. Whether it was my run on the first one, getting into the half yard line, or Rico [Dowdle] trying to go over the top for me — they always stress follow the ball and more than ever, that’s the reason why. Just examples of things in practice coming up over and over again.”

Prescott says his Cowboys team is resilient, with Dallas heading into Week 6 in a much more positive light. “Luckily, we had the fourth down and it was special to get it back to Tolbert,” he added.

“He did a great job of coming across the field and getting open, and the offensive line did a great job on that play of allowing me to stay in the pocket. It’s persistence and resilience. The team just really showed it there, on that drive.”

The Cowboys will play the Detroit Lions next Sunday at the AT&T Stadium. The Lions is one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl in the NFC, with the San Francisco 49ers faltering in the early stages of 2024.
