The roster for the LIV Golf Promotions event at Riyadh Golf Club has been unveiled, with a plethora of players vying to secure their spot on the breakaway circuit for 2025.

The qualifying event is back for its second edition after its debut last year, where three spots were up for grabs. This time, however, league officials have chosen to offer only one place to the top performer over the four rounds of golf.

The Middle Eastern event kicks off this week with the first round on Friday, followed by the second stage on Saturday. Sunday will be divided into two sessions, with the final two rounds played in one day.

Among those hoping to earn a spot on the LIV lineup for 2025 are four of the five players relegated from this season: Kalle Samooja, Branden Grace, and the Vincent brothers – Scott and Kieran.

They’ll be joined by another 2024 LIV member, former wildcard Hudson Swafford. Meanwhile, LIV regular John Catlin is aiming to rebound from his recent letdown on the Asian Tour’s International Series.

The American, who served as a LIV injury reserve throughout 2024, seemed poised for promotion via the Series during the year but fell short in the final two events in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. After last week’s season finale, Catlin is back at the same course in Riyadh, aiming to secure a permanent spot with LIV.

He will be competing against fellow injury reserve Ben Campbell, who, like Catlin, narrowly missed out on the International Series Rankings despite a stellar year on the Asian Tour. Other notable entrants include former European Ryder Cup player Chris Wood and PGA Tour player Martin Trainer.

DP World Tour star Adri Arnaus will also compete, along with former LIV members Wade Ormsby and Turk Pettit. Arnaus, Pettit, Wood, and Trainer will all start the event at the first stage in Friday’s opening round, before players like Catlin, Campbell, and last year’s relegated stars join on day two.

The top 20 performers on day two will move on to the second round on Saturday to join Catlin and others. The top 20 from day two (including ties) will then advance to the final day on Sunday, where the best performer over the 36 holes will earn a place with LIV and $200k in prize money.

“I’m really excited to play in the LIV Golf Promotions tournament. The golfing world is full of so many opportunities at the moment and this is one of the biggest,” said three-time DP World Tour winner Wood.

“I’m at a place in my career where I am exploring different opportunities, and I am so grateful to have these along with an open mind as to where it might take me.”
