Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore did a flag-plant gesture during the Wolverines’ men’s basketball home game against Iowa on Saturday.

Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press captured video of the Crisler Center jumbrotron showcasing Moore doing the act while in attendance alongside Michigan recruit and quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2025.

The flag plant, of course, is a direct reference to Michigan players performing the act at Ohio Stadium’s midfield after their massive 13-10 upset victory at Ohio State last Saturday.

That led to Ohio State players confronting the Wolverines, kicking off a huge postgame confrontation.

Both sides got into it, with Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer ripping the Michigan flag away.

Police even used pepper spray to try to break up the fight.

The Big Ten later fined Ohio State and Michigan $100,000 each.

“It’s emotion on both sides that can’t happen,” Moore said, per Cody Nagel of 247Sports. “Rivalry games get heated, especially this one. It’s the biggest one in the country. So we got to handle that better. … I addressed it in the locker room. We’ll address it again. But that’s both sides.”

Obviously, this was a huge win for Moore in his first season leading the Wolverine program. After a 15-0 season ended with a national title in 2023 under Jim Harbaugh, Michigan struggled in 2024, going just 7-5 (5-4 in Big Ten).

However, the Wolverines closed with their fourth straight victory over Ohio State. That, coupled with Underwood flipping his commitment from LSU to Michigan, certainly has Moore in a good mood.

As for this season, Michigan has a bowl game left. It’s unclear where the Wolverines are headed, but the latest projection from B/R’s David Kenyon has them playing Oklahoma in the Music City Bowl.
