Jake Paul could have a new challenger in the boxing ring,
During an appearance on the Unapologetically Angel podcast, former pro basketball player LiAngelo Ball expressed confidence in his chances against the social media star and boxer if he could fully prepare for the bout.
“If I trained, yeah I think so,” Ball said about the possibility of knocking out Paul (49:45:00).
Paul notably just defeated former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson via unanimous decision on Nov. 16. He has an 11-1 overall record with seven knockouts, with Tyson being his most high-profile victory.
While the victory was impressive, the 27-year-old’s significant age gap with the 58-year-old Tyson was something that caused fans to question how impressive the win truly was. While Ball does not have Tyson’s pedigree, the 26-year-old was a professional athlete who is in Paul’s age range.
Ball also noted that he would do the fight for $20 million, which is similar to the reported purse that Tyson received for the match.
Paul has fought former basketball players in the past, as he fought former NBA veteran Nate Robinson in 2020. The majority of his other opponents have been MMA fighters or boxers, but Ball would be a pretty high-profile opponent that could generate some buzz as well.
