Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly has been forced to reverse course after launching a furious attack on the Philadelphia Eagles, mistakenly believing they had declined a White House invitation following their Super Bowl LIX victory.
The Eagles, who defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 to claim their second championship in franchise history, were formally invited by President Donald Trump to the White House, a long-standing tradition for major sports champions.
However, due to their previous decision to skip the visit in 2018, speculation mounted that they might reject Trump again—a claim that Kelly furiously reacted to on social media before verifying the facts.
Kelly’s Heated Reaction to False Reports
Kelly, a former Fox News host and a vocal Trump supporter, came across a report on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that the Eagles were refusing the White House invitation for a second time. Without confirming the validity of the report, she lashed out at the team in a profanity-laced post:
“GO F YOURSELVES EAGLES. My husband is a fan so I got onboard, but F this BS.”
The post immediately stirred controversy, with many criticizing Kelly’s aggressive response and lack of fact-checking before making such a bold statement.

Jake Tapper Quickly Debunks the Rumor
However, it didn’t take long before CNN’s Jake Tapper, a lifelong Eagles fan, stepped in to correct the narrative. Tapper, who has close sources within the organization, refuted the claim and shared a direct message from an Eagles team representative that contradicted the initial report.
“We would be honored to visit the White House,” the Eagles source told Tapper. “It’s one of the things we had looked forward to doing, and we look forward to receiving the invitation.”
Kelly Forced Into an Awkward U-Turn
After Tapper exposed the false report, Kelly had no choice but to walk back her angry remarks, acknowledging that the Eagles were indeed planning to visit the White House. However, instead of a full apology, she posted a half-hearted correction with a subtle dig at the team:
“Looks like the Eagles are prepared to do the right thing. This time.”
Her strangely worded response left many confused, especially since she randomly referenced the New York Giants, though it was unclear why.
