Canelo Alvarez could face off against Terrence Crawford in a blockbuster showdown in 2025.

Arguably one of the greatest boxers of the current generation, the 34-year-old has bested a who’s who across his 62-2-2 career to date. Having held titles at light heavyweight, light middleweight, and middleweight – Canelo is currently in possession of the WBA (Super), WBC and WBO super middleweight titles, most recently defending his belts in September courtesy of a unanimous decision win over Edgar Berlanga.

After besting the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Billy Joe Saunders, Amir Khan and Miguel Cotto over the years, fight fans are unsure as to who is left to beat in terms of Canelo’s legacy – but the Mexican star recently admitted that he’s open to talks with Saudi Arabian Advisor Turki Alalshikh about big money boxing fights for 2025.

It comes after Alalshikh recently announced that he wishes to chat with Canelo about a potential bout with Terence Crawford – with the boxer explaining that he’s willing to enter negotiations in January. Speaking to media, Canelo explained: “Now, Im working on other things. Im enjoying my family. Im not talking about boxing yet. So, maybe in January, were going to start doing that.

“I never say no to business. So, if its business for me, Im open to talk, no matter what.” And Canelo isn’t the only athlete who has been open to fighting Crawford as of recent – with UFC star Conor McGregor recently challenging the 41-0 WBA and WBO interim light middleweight title holder to a scrap.

Back in October, McGregor proposed on X a two-fight deal with Crawford – one in the form of boxing and the other in the form of MMA, giving the boxing star the chance to pocket a cool $100million for each fight. McGregor wrote: “Big respect to @tbudcrawford! $100million dollars in a fight, 1 in MMA, 1 boxing. $200million dollars!”

And while Crawford simply replied: “Tempted,” at the time, the Nebraska native later confessed: “I told Conor, Hell no. They called me and they offered me the fight and me and Conor got on the phone and started trying to figure something out.”

Crawford cited that he wouldn’t be willing to enter the Octagon and allow McGregor to start “kicking me and elbow me and s***”, but it appears that the boxer changed his tune shortly after, taking to Instagram to share a story saying: “Aye! Conor [McGregor]! Im getting back on the mat! Stay tuned, baby! We working!”

Should Crawford choose a showdown with McGregor over Canelo, fight fans need not worry, as Canelo has also hinted at the possibility of exacting revenge on Jake Paul following his controversial win over Mike Tyson in November. Canelo coldly admitted: “I think about it when I see the fight and the injustice, but well see.”

YouTuber-turned-pugilist Paul, 27, shared the ring with Tyson on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, picking apart his 58-year-old opponent with ease over the course of eight rounds before claiming a unanimous decision win. Paul has also been incredibly vocal about wishing to step into the ring with Canelo in the past, citing how it his dream to become a legitimate world champion.

Speaking after his win over Tyson on his BS podcast, Paul said: “People just want to see me lose, so wouldn’t the best opportunity to see me lose be going up against Canelo. People will never be satisfied with my career until I get f***ing flat-lined – then they’re going to be happy.

“So what better way to make that happen, or to go up against the biggest challenge in this sport – one of the best to ever do it, a legend, pound for pound great if not the best in the sport – then Canelo. What excuse does the audience have, does Canelo have when that happens?”

He added: “He’s thinking, ‘pay, money’, and at the end of the day, that’s why it’s going to happen, that’s why I’ve been saying it since three f***ing years ago. Yeah, it’s f***ing going to be an insane fight, yeah it’s going to be hard as f***, yeah I might get my a** beat and flat-lined, but let’s f***ing find out. Let’s find out.”
