Cam Smith has confirmed that the Ripper GC roster won’t change during the LIV Golf transfer window.
Smith, who is in charge of Ripper GC, led the all-Australian franchise to victory at the LIV Team Championship in Dallas in September. The successful season for Ripper also included wins in Adelaide and Singapore. Smith’s team includes fellow Australians Marc Leishman, Lucas Herbert, and Matt Jones.
Despite Jones being out of contract, it seems Ripper will maintain its current lineup for 2025. “Everything’s staying the same,” the former PGA Tour star told Bunkered at this week’s PIF Saudi International.
“It’s hard to change a team up when you’ve just won the team title. To be fair we played really solid all year. We could have played a few more events throughout the year. But that’s stuff we can work on. There’s no reason to change it.”

The update comes after LIV sources confirmed to Mirror US Sport this week that a top priority for Smith and Ripper was to secure the services of Jones for the upcoming campaign. Jones was Ripper’s lowest-performing player on the breakaway circuit in 2024, finishing the season 42nd in the standings.
His best performance came during Ripper’s victory in Adelaide in April, where he tied for ninth. Meanwhile, Smith’s team seems to have reinstated their faith in the 44 year old as they gear up to defend their title in 2025.
So far in the off-season, LIV leadership hasn’t announced any fresh signings, but according to a tip-off to Sports Illustrated, interest has been buzzing. “My phone’s been ringing nonstop basically since right before Dallas and things are starting to happen from either player directly or agents calling exploring and wanting to look at the possibility of coming on [LIV team],” an anonymous LIV General Manager divulged.

“With what the inside rumblings are, I would guess that there’s going to be one or two big names coming over. Two guys that had very big offers that are now calling would love to be on [a LIV team] and said that was the worst decision they made is not accepting the offer and coming over.”
Recently, insiders relayed to Mirror Sport US that a PGA Tour player, who secured their spot through the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai Rankings, reached out to the Saudi-financed LIV Golf.
