Brooks Koepka had five words to describe his LIV Golf partner Bryson DeChambeau ahead of their upcoming clash against Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.
The LIV duo will take on their PGA Tour rivals in the latest edition of ‘The Match’ in Las Vegas later this month, with the 18-hole split into three formats of six. The event will follow a Ryder Cup-style setup with the first six better-ball, the second alternate shot, and the third singles.
Koepka and DeChambeau’s pairing is an intriguing one, having previously been involved in a public fallout that stemmed from their days competing against each other on the PGA Tour.
On the back of their switch to the breakaway league their feud is now behind them, and ahead of joining forces in Vegas Koepka has had his say on his partner. Quirky, opinionated, but very passionate, very driven, and very hard-working,” the five-time major champion responded when asked to describe DeChambeau by Golf Digest.
Replying back, the U.S. Open champion said of Koepka: “Hard worker, too, by the way. Its funny, we have some of the same practice routines after a round. Ive seen him hit golf balls for two hours. The Showdown will give golf fans the chance to see two of the biggest names from each leading tour do battle.
The sport has been left torn in two in recent years following the formation of the breakaway circuit in 2022. The PGA Tour opted to take a no-nonsense approach to their new-found rivals, banning any of its members who opted to tee it up on the LIV circuit, including Koepka and DeChambeau.

DeChambeau believes the reuniting of two of LIV’s biggest names with their PGA Tour rivals is long overdue. The public deserves this. Theyve been waiting for a long time, the Crushers captain claimed. This isnt just going to be a one-and-done sort of thing. This is about bringing the game back together.
DeChambeau echoed the thoughts of his rival McIlroy, who told Golfweek in September. “I’m thrilled to partner with Scottie [Scheffler] in what promises to be an exciting duel against Bryson [DeChambeau and Brooks [Koepka] in Vegas this December,” the four-time major champion claimed.
“This isn’t just a contest between some of golf’s major champions; it’s an event designed to energize the fans. We’re all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings the best together again.” McIlroy will reunite his rivalry with DeChambeau six months after their epic U.S. Open battle at Pinehurst No. 2.
