BREAKING NEWS: Rory McIlroy Forced to Sell Dream $2.5 Million Home Due to One Unbelievable Feature. .giang

Just one glimpse at Rory McIlroy’s old home is enough to figure out how the Northern Irishman is so good at golf.

McIlroy, 35, is the World No.3 currently and one of the great players of his generation. While a fifth major continues to elude him, and has done ever since his last triumph in 2014, he has a track record of circumnavigating the toughest courses in the world and putting opponents under terrifying pressure.

Experience may be the best teacher, but practice and repetition is what helped make him the golfing force he is. In his dream $2.52million (£2m) home, he was able to do just that as he had his own putting green and, ludicrously, his own driving range.

While he was laying down the foundations for his first two major victories – the 2011 US Open and 2012 PGA Championship – he was still residing in an awe-inspiring mansion in his home country. Whenever he wanted, he could take his putter to his own personal green or blast a few balls into the abyss on a driving range that was for him and him only.

If that was not awesome enough, his property also boasted 14 acres of land, a gym and a tennis court. However, as he made a name for himself on the PGA Tour, McIlroy was spending more time on airplanes than he was in his dream home.

Once it became obvious that he needed to relocate he, no doubt reluctantly, sold his Northern Ireland home to television presenter Gary McCausland. The Belfast television personality revealed that he paid slightly less than McIlroy’s $2.52m valuation, but he did not reveal exactly how much money he parted with.

McIlroy, who is worth around $283.6m according to the 2024 Sunday Times Rich-List, splashed out on a new $22m mansion in Jupiter, Florida, which belonged to fellow golf legend Ernie Els. While it’s 2.4 acres of land is smaller than his former abode in Northern Ireland, his new home boasts nine bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, an infinity pool, games room, home theatre and recording studio, as well as a tennis court and gym.

While there was no room for his own driving range or putting green, he can drive an hour-and-a-half out of Miami to a golf course which just happens to be adjacent to his own personal six-car garage.

McIlroy did invest in another huge property back in Northern Ireland, a 200-acre, 19th century grand estate in County Down which features, as you may expect, a private golf course.

He also owns an apartment in New York and his own personal villa in the United Arab Emirates, as well as another property in La Quinta, California.

In season three of the hit Netflix golf series, ‘Full Swing’, McIlroy revealed his wife Erica Stoll prefers the British climate than the intense heat of Florida. He said: “If it was up to her, she wouldn’t move to England straightaway, but she definitely wants to spend more time there.”

McIlroy will be desperate to amass more major titles than luxury homes this year. His start to 2025 suggests he may finally add his fifth major and first in 11 years.

The World No. 3 finished T4 at the Hero Dubai Desert Claddic in January, before winning the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in spectacular fashion at the start of the month. He has suffered a setback since, though, enduring a difficult weekend at the Genesis Invitational, where he only managed to muster a score of three-under-par to secure a T-17 finish.
