Legendary head coach Bill Belichick has claimed that ‘age is just a number’ when responding to the 48-year age gap between him and girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
Belichick, 72, made his relationship with Hudson, 24, public this year although the pair have reportedly been dating since 2022. Belichick has faced major backlash for dating someone young enough to be his granddaughter, but the six-time Super Bowl winning head coach does not care about outside opinions.
A source revealed to Page Six that Belichick “couldn’t care less” about the age gap as “he appreciates Jordon for the woman that she is.” The source also added: “Jordon is an old soul so she and Bill connect on a deep level. Age is just a number to them.”
Belichick and Hudson also believe that their relationship is the ‘real deal’ according to the source, and claim to be ‘in love’ after spending lots of time together. Belichick and Hudson believe they have a genuine connection and don’t see the age gap as an issue.
“They have a genuine connection and mutual respect for one another, connect on so many levels despite what some may think,” the source added before concluding: “(they) both enjoy sports, and they both have a love for nature and the outdoors.”
Belichick separated from long-time partner Linda Holliday, 61, in September 2023, although a source told People Magazine that they had been distant for a while. His relationship with Hudson was initially kept private, but the 24-year-old has since posted several pictures on Instagram alongside the football coach.
The 72-year-old left the New England Patriots at the end of last season after 24 years as head coach, winning six Super Bowls with quarterback Tom Brady. Belichick was interviewed for several head coaching roles but failed to land a position in the NFL, and entered the season as a free agent.
Belichick has made it clear that he’s not retired, and has since opened talks with North Carolina. However, Brady discussed the reports on Sunday and admitted he didn’t see a world where Belichick would fit in college football.
“Theres a lot of things he can do, and obviously hes tremendous, and even showing his personality,” Brady said on FOX NFL Sunday. “But getting out there on the recruiting trail and dealing with all these college kids.”
Brady’s former Patriots teammates, Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, both agreed as they weighed in on the speculation. “Can you imagine NIL, and all that nonsense?” Gronkowski said. Edelman then added: “Can you imagine Bill on a couch recruiting an 18-year-old?”
