Isaac Guerendo was elevated from third-string running back to the 49ers starter in Week 14s, filling in for Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, who were added to injured reserve this week.
Guerendo balled out against the Bears‘ defense, posting 15 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He also brought in both of his receptions for 50 additional yards. Unfortunately, his momentum ended when he got hurt in the fourth quarter.
The running back woes continued for San Francisco, as it had to dig even deeper for someone to carry the ball. The 49ers are also on a short week and will face the Rams in a big NFC West matchup on Thursday.
Here are the latest injury updates for Guerendo.

Isaac Guerendo injury update
Guerendo was diagnosed with a foot injury and labeled “questionable” to return, though he remained out after heading to the locker room.
We will have to wait for postgame comments from head coach Kyle Shanahan to see how bad the injury was. Guerendo was never ruled out for the game, but San Francisco also had a 20-plus point lead over the Bears, so there was no need for the running back to risk coming back in.
It’s unclear when Guerendo suffered the injury, but he was taken to the locker room before the game was over.
The 49ers think that Guerendo has sprained his foot, but will need more tests on Monday to confirm, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The running back will get an MRI.
