Aaron Rodgers will hope to put in an impressive final few performances this season, in what could be his last run of games with the New York Jets, with the return of Allen Lazard coming at the perfect time.

Rodgers will have both of his former Green Bay Packers receiver in Lazard and Davante Adams available to him with the Jets for just the second time against the Miami Dolphins this weekend.

Lazard has missed the last five games after going down with an injury after the Jets were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers, with him now available to return in week 14, in what looks to be their final chance to get things right on offense.

Not only have the Jets won just one in their last eight games, the future of the franchise is looking incredibly uncertain with the front office already firing head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, with the rumors suggesting that ownership will also look to move on from Rodgers after their nightmare season.

While Rodgers has stated that he wants to stay with the Jets and play for a ‘few more years’, he might be moved on from the team with owner Woody Johnson appearing that he wants to go in a new direction.

The Jets have made a number of moves for Rodgers’, including bringing in both Lazard and Adams, while bolstering their offensive line – with oddsmakers even having them as the favorites to win the AFC East above the Buffalo Bills.

And while Rodgers has struggled to find his form from his previous seasons, the Jets have made significant unforced errors in almost every game they’ve lost this season – putting them in a brutal position moving forward if they do indeed look to move on from numerous players on the current roster.

While the franchise may want to cut Rodgers, they would incur a massive $49 million in dead cap money that could be spread out over two seasons, owing $14 million next year and $35 million in 2026. The Jets may opt to designate Rodgers as a post-June 1 cut, which would cost $14 million against the cap and save them $9.5 million in 2025.

However, both of these moves would mean they’d need to open up further cap space, by potentially cutting even more players and being forced into trades so that they’re even able to sign their drafted players heading into 2025.
