Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has declared that the Major League Soccer team has an unlimited budget for the upcoming transfer window and is keen on signing Neymar from Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli.
The Brazilian star has had a challenging time in the Middle East since leaving Paris Saint-Germain for the oil-rich nation in 2023, playing only seven games in all competitions due to an ACL injury he sustained shortly after his arrival.
Rumors of his exit have been circulating, with the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund-backed team considering cutting their losses on the $100 million player – a situation that could spell trouble for Liverpool.
At present, the PIF funds Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr, providing these four teams with virtually limitless resources for player acquisitions, with their top target being Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King, arguably the world’s best soccer player at the moment, is spearheading Liverpool’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns. However, the unavoidable reality is that in just a few weeks, Salah could theoretically sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-English team, receive a hefty signing-on fee, and leave Liverpool for free in the summer.
Despite the interest from top-tier clubs, he seems eager to avoid a move. The forward has repeatedly pressured the club to finalize a contract.
However, with the Saudi PIF potentially losing Neymar, who’s contract expires next summer, Liverpool may face another obstacle in retaining Salah. The Saudis are not known for being outdone and it’s unlikely they’d let a player of Neymar’s stature leave their well-funded league without a similarly high-profile replacement, reports Liverpool.com.
In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, Mas outlined Inter Miami’s strategy to sign Neymar. He stated: “The key word is if he were to become available. He is an Al-Hilal player now. He’s not available to us. I have always said we aspire to bring great players to our team. We have a lot of roster limitations and restrictions, but we have an unlimited budget.”
“We are aspirational. If there is ever a chance to bring the calibre of a player like Neymar, we will not hesitate. It doesn’t depend only on me. It depends on the player and the league. But yes, we aspire to build a great roster here.”
