It was a Wednesday morning at the RSPCA Woodside Animal Center in Leicester, United Kingdom. Staff members at the center were preparing to work when they spotted a dog tied to the front gate. As as soon as the dog saw the staffs, she immediately wagged her tail with the hope that they would notice her. Nobody knew how long she’d been there for, but it was clear that she was neglected by her owner.
“She was stood with her head pushed through the bars of the gate, her ears back with these big, brown puppy dog eyes. She must be so confused and disorientated,” a spokeswoman from the RSPCA Woodside Animal Center said in a press release.
The sweet dog was taken in the center and named Misty. She was emaciated and suffered from a skin condition and some cuts on her nose. Misty had a microchip, but after reaching out to the number listed on the chip, they discovered she’d been rehomed several years ago before being left alone outside the shelter.
Misty is now safe and sound, but the RSPCA is hoping to find her previous owner. “We’re now hoping the public may be able to help with our investigation,” Karl Marston, an inspector with the RSPCA, said in a press release.
We are happy to know that Misty is relaxing and recovering her health from the shock of being neglected at the shelter. And once she’s ready, she will be placed in her forever home where she’ll be loved and cared. Most importantly, she will never have to worry about being abandoned again.
If you have any information about who may have abandoned Misty, you can contact the RSPCA at 0300 123 8018.
