Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Travis Kelce, has revealed that she received a call from her concerned mom following her controversial interview on Angel Reese’s podcast.

The influencer opened up on her time with the NFL superstar during her conversation with the WNBA rookie as she reflected on their five-year romance. The pair called it quits in 2022, with Kelce eventually embarking on a new relationship with the pop chart-topper Taylor Swift.

A three-time Super Bowl winner, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was already a household name prior meeting his beau in September of last year. However, his renown has shot to stratospheric levels since he went public with the singer, with the couple arguably the most talked about duo on the planet currently.

Looking back over their relationship, Nicole admitted to struggling with the glare of the spotlight during and after her relationship with Kelce as she made reference to “crazy people” who had made the experience more challenging. Now, in an interview with I Am Athlete, she has reacted to the fallout from her chat with Reese, saying: “I thought that I answered the questions to the best of my ability.

“The public had their interpretation of things – didn’t matter to me”, she said, before opening up on a subsequent phone call with her mom. “My mom calls me, though. And it’s those conversations … that’s what matters to me because she’s offended. She’s hurt by the way people are perceiving her daughter.

“She’s hurt by the negative headlines and the way people are spinning it. And even my mom was like, ‘Maybe next time, we don’t answer those questions’ and it’s simple as that. Don’t give it any energy. You don’t always have to respond.”

Nicole had said the following about the public intrigue surrouding her former romance with Kelce, admitting: “I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos doesn’t impact me. It does, even to this day. You can go to my most recent post and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”

“I think that there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people,” she continued, with this comment proving divisive among some members of the public, including Swift’s army of fans. “It’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”

On Kelce himself, she said: “He’s a great guy. That was a good time in my life. So many lessons learned, but that’s with every relationship,” before adding that she does not want another public romance in the near future: “I don’t see myself doing that anytime soon. People can’t pick at what they don’t know about. I would just protect my relationships from here on out.”
